Background


The Master System Homebrew Kit started as an idea on the SMSPower.org Forums. It's becoming clear in the retrogaming world that an affordable and easy release mechanism is required for homebrew software. Having such a release mechanism will greatly increase interest in development and hopefully entice a small revival of older generation consoles.

Specifications

The Master System Homebrew Kit consists of two parts: blank game carts and a burner/dumper. The Game Carts will include a Sega Mapper compatible mapper and support:
  • Up to 8Mbit ROMs
  • Up to 32KB of Battery-backed SRAM
  • Up to 1Mbit of save file EEPROM 
It is also VERY noteworthy that the Master System Homebrew Game Carts are fully 5V compliant.

Compatibility

Master System Homebrew Kit Game Carts will be compatible with the Sega Master System console as well as Genesis/Megadrive through a Power Base Converter.

Form Factor

Master System Homebrew Kit Game Carts are designed to fit inside Master System cartridge shells.
