Sega Genesis Probing Adapter - New Dev Hardware

As I develop more and more Sega Genesis hardware, I'm finding it difficult to easily troubleshoot my boards. I have a Model 2 Sega Genesis which is permanently disassembled from its enclosure and RF shields in order to make it easier to probe various cartridge signals. I decided a simpler solution was needed and therefore I designed a pass-through Genesis cart with pin headers and labels for each signal.

I assembled two for myself with male pin headers to make it very easy to plug in my logic analyser on any desired signal. The signals are labelled on both front and back side. I even include the Genesis cartridge mounting holes in the event that someone would like to install his in a cartridge shell.

The two rows of signal headers are high enough that the Sega Genesis Probing Adapter will work with both Model 1 and Model 2 Genesis enclosures.

The other possibility the Sega Genesis Probing Adapter offers is to easily inject signals into your Sega Genesis. Instead of mounting a game on the cartridge connector, you could instead install a ribbon cable to the signal headers and drive those from an FPGA dev board or other such devices.

I'll eventually make a product section for the various dev tools I build - these will also be available for purchase. I also have protoboard adapters for Genesis/SMS Carts that are very useful. For the time being, if you're interested in buying a Probing Adapter, just send me an e-mail (link at bottom of page).

FYI, Bard's is a very fine beer!
