Six new boards designs came in today: SMS Burner and Cart, new TG16 Converter top and bottom, and new FM Power Base Converter boards! I've got all my work cut out for me for the next little while. The SMS Burner marks the first time a db Electronics product has a microcontroller onboard - I'm no stranger to embedded software but this will definitely be a long project!
SMS Burner and Cart
The SMS Burner and Cart system is currently the project I am most excited about! It will permit developers to burn SMS games onto my blanks and thus distribute their own homebrew software. The picture to the right shows both boards, with a Burner board connected to the SMS. As the project evolves, the burner itself will become a hardware development platform for the SMS using an attached cart as RAM and ROM resources for iterative game testing.
TG16 Converter
The new TG16 Converter boards have a pretty slick trick up their sleeves. When it's all tested and confirmed working I will make the announcement!
FM Power Base Converter
Finally, the new FM Power Base Converter boards should be the version which go on sale. I've addressed a lot of noise sensitivity issues on the YM2413 layout, honestly it can't get much better than this layout...
