25 years ago today the greatest console ever was released in North America, the Sega Genesis. I don't have any memories of the release since all the hype was on Nintendo at time. It wouldn't be until Sonic The Hedgehog was released that I would finally play a Genesis. Oh the memories...

Last year, Readonlymemory.vg held a kickstarter to fund a book called Sega Mega Drive / Genesis : Collected Works. The book is available for pre-order on Read Only Memory's website and is scheduled to print this September.

"SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works will be the definitive volume on the landmark console. The book is produced in collaboration with SEGA and celebrates the 25th anniversary of the console’s release. It is an unparalleled treasury of development sketches, design documents, hardware concepts and game artwork, that covers blockbuster titles such as Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star II and ToeJam & Earl as well as cult gems including Vectorman, Landstalker and Comix Zone."
